There is no account to make, nothing to sign in to, and no profile of you anywhere. The list of stops you keep is held on your own device. Nothing you do here is tracked or sold. What has to leave your device to answer you, and who sees it, is set out below.
The stops you keep
The stops you save, the order you put them in and which modes you leave open are held on the device you are reading this on: in the browser’s own storage on the web, and on the phone itself in the app. They are never sent to this server, so they are not backed up here and not readable by anyone else. Clearing the site’s data or deleting the app removes them, though your phone’s own backups, such as iCloud Backup, include them the way they include any app’s settings.
Where you are
The app opens on Near me, so it asks for your position when it opens, again whenever you switch back to the Near me tab, and when you tap Try again or pull the list down to refresh it. The website asks only when you tap Near me. Either way it asks for one reading at a time and does not follow you as you move.
The coordinates go, as precisely as your device gives them, to this site’s own server, which passes them straight on to RMV’s open interface to find the stops around you: within 500 metres in the app, within 1.5 kilometres on the website. This site’s code does not store them or write them to its own logs, but they travel in the address of the request, so Vercel, which runs this server, handles them on the way. RMV receives them, and its own terms govern what it keeps.
You can say no when you are first asked, and withdraw the permission at any time in your phone’s or browser’s settings. Search, saved stops and boards go on working without it.
What is asked of RMV
Every departure, journey and service message comes from the open interface of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund. Your device asks this server, and this server asks RMV. What goes that way is what the question needs: the stop you open, line codes and journey references when you open a line, the stop names you type into search, and your coordinates for Near me. RMV receives them from this server rather than from your device, and its own terms govern what it does with them.
The answer to a search for a stop name is also held for a time at the edge of the network of Vercel, which hosts this site, so the same search is answered faster next time. It is filed under the text that was typed, not under you.
The map
The map under a line is the one thing your device fetches from anyone other than this server, and who that is depends on where you are reading.
In the app, the map is Apple’s: MapKit fetches it and draws it, so Apple sees which part of the map is shown, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
On the website, its streets are tiles fetched straight from OpenStreetMap, which sees your IP address and which part of the map is shown, under the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s own privacy policy.
Logs
Vercel, the host, keeps logs of the requests it serves, as any web host does, under its own privacy policy. This site’s code writes nothing about you to them.
What is not here
No advertising. No analytics. No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, and no cookies from this site or the app. No account and no profile. Nothing is sold, and nothing goes to anyone beyond what is set out above.
