A departure board for every stop in the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund: what leaves from here, which way out it goes from, and how late it is running. On the web, and as Abfahrt on the phone.

Where the times come from

Every time is RMV’s own, read live from its open interface, and shown in Berlin time however your device is set. The number of minutes is how long until it really leaves, lateness included. On the website a small mark beside it says how much of that is lateness: 19 +1 is nineteen minutes away, one minute later than the timetable says. A time shown as a cross has been cancelled and is kept on the board so you know it is not coming.

Platforms and sides

At a station each platform is its own heading. At Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof the four tunnel tracks are two island platforms rather than four separate ones, so 101/102 and 103/104 are read together, and each row says which edge its train actually leaves from.

On a street there is no platform to name, so a side is named by the stop everything there calls at next — “via Konstablerwache” — which is the thing you can actually check against the sign in front of you.

If a line is missing

Boards cover the next two hours and only the modes you can catch at a stop; the long-distance trains are left to the railway’s own boards. If a whole mode looks absent, open it — modes start folded so a busy interchange still fits on a phone.

If something is genuinely wrong — a departure that does not exist, a platform that does not match the sign, a stop that cannot be found — it is worth saying so, because it is usually a fault worth fixing rather than a quirk of the data.

Tickets and official information

This is not an RMV product and it cannot sell you a ticket, hold a booking or answer for the service itself. For fares, tickets and official notices, go to rmv.de.

Reporting something

Write to app@edward-tu.com. It helps to say which stop, roughly when, and what you expected to see instead — a screenshot says most of it at once. Expect an answer within a few days.
